Dr.
Ning Li got her Bachelor degree and Master degree
in Shanxi Medical University in 1986 and 1989,
respectively, and Ph.D. of Food Toxicology in
the Institute of Nutrition and Food Hygiene
of Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine in
1998. Since then, she has been a staff of the
Institute of Nutrition and Food Safety of Chinese
Center for Disease Control and Prevention, except
for being the postdoctoral associate from June,
2000 to August, 2001 in Rutgers University of
US. Her major research interests and experience
are as follows: the effect of food contamination
on the human health and food chemical contaminant
risk assessment; safety evaluation of foods
additive, health food, transgenic food, and
pesticides; effects of functional food on human
health; and establishing and formulating relative
standard of food safety assessment for governments.
Dr. Li got several awards such as Science and
Technology Awards of Chinese Medicine in 2004,
Science and Technology Progress Awards of Beijing
City in 1999, Science and Technology Progress
Awards of Ministry of Public Health in 1999,
and Science and Technology Awards in 2000, and
so on. In addition, she is a member of many
associations including Committee of Beijing
Preventive Medicine, Standard and Technology
Committee of Biological Safety of Chinese Agricultural
GMO, Committee of Biological Safety of Chinese
Agricultural GMO, Review Committee of Chinese
Pesticide. So far, more than 40 papers have
been published. |

| Cheng
Shujun is currently as a professor of Cancer
Institute (Hospital), Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences
& Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China,
and Chief Scientist of both China State Key Basic
Research Project “Fundamental investigation of human
carcinogenesis and cancer therapy and prevention”
and Beijing key Cancer Research Project “Tumor biomarker
profiling and human cancer diagnosis and therapy”.
He worked as a visiting scientist in Laboratoire de
Medicine Experimental, Institute de la Recherches
Scientifiques sur le Cancer, France (1978-1981), and
in Department of Pathology, Medical College of Ohio,
USA (1986-1987). He has established a series of short-term
tests for the detection of environmental carcinogens
and anti-carcinogens in China. He was elected as a
Member, Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1999. Dr.
Cheng is the President of Chinese Environmental Mutagen
Society, and Vice President of China Anticancer Association.
He found that the tea catechins showed a significant
inhibitory effect against human genital condylomas
and inflammatory hyperplasia. Based on the invention,
he and his collaborators had received international
patents “Composition for treating condyloma acuminate”
in 1998. This invention had been approved to go for
clinical phase III trial by US FDA. As invited speakers,
Dr. Cheng has visited many institutes at foreign countries
and attended at international conferences. |
