Abstract: BACKGROUND &AIM: To study the spectra of trace elements (TE) in tap water to provide the research basis of pathogenesis of esophageal cancer (EC). MATERIAL AND METHODS: Thirteen trace elements (Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Se, Sr, V, Zn) in tap water of different districts were studied. The contents of TE were analyzed with t_test and correlation analysis and the regression equation was established. RESULTS: The TE spectra of TE in tap water in areas with high and low incidences of EC were discriminated using Fisher method, the accuracy rates were up the 93%.CONCLUSION: The TE in water of different districts could affect the incidence of EC.
