Abstract: BACKGROUND ＆ AIM: To study the anti-tumor effect of [pulsatilla chinensis(Bunge)regel,PCR] extracts. MATERAIALS AND METHODS: The effect of PCR extracts on the proliferation of tumor cell lines were assayed in vitro using 3-[4,5-di methylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5 diphenyltetrazoliumbromide colorimetry method.The anti-tumor active component of PCR extracts was separated and purified using three steps methods. RESULTS: PCR extracts markedly inhibited the proliferation of tumor cell lines and in a dose-dependent manner. The anti-tumor active component was indentified. CONCLUSION: PCR awaits further development as an anti-tumor drug.
