Abstract: Purpose and Methods : To evaluate the P53 protein expression and clinical significance in human hepatocellular carcinoma ( HCC) , the expression of P53 protein was detected in HCC by immunohistochemical method. Results : The result s showed that P53 protein was positive in 49 % (36/ 74) of HCC , and there was significant correlation between P53 protein expression and HCC histologic grade. Conclusion : The results suggested that the over2expression of P53 caused by P53 gene mutation is a common kind of molecular st ructure changes in HCC. In addition , P53 protein may be used as a valuable biomaker of HCC.
