Toxicity Study on DingLiJian Capsule

Abstract

Abstract: BACKGROUND ＆ AIM: DingLiJian capsule is a constituent of herbal medicine composed of ant powder compounded preparation. It was necessary to make toxicological assessment of DingLiJian capsule. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The acute toxicity in mice and rat, micronuclei test of bone marrow cell in mice, sperm shape abnormality test in mice and Ames test were used. RESULTS: The maximum tolerated dose(MTD) of rats and mice was more than 20.0 g/ kg, so the DingLiJian capsule belonged to non-toxic substance; the results of micronucleus test of bone marrow cell, sperm shape abnormallty test in mice and Ames test were negative. CONCLUSION: The DingLiJian capsule has no acute toxicity and abnormality.
